ENHANCER OF ABSORPTION AND BIOAVAILABILITY

Vitamin E TPGS enhances the absorption and bioavailability of lipid and poorly soluble compounds especially in conditions of malabsorption by three major mechanisms:

  1. Emulsification of lipid compounds and solubilization of poorly soluble compounds.
  2. Formation of micelle-like particles which facilitate absorption.
  3. Modulation of efflux pump activity by inhibition of the P-glycoprotein (P-gp) which is It is responsible for decreased drug accumulation in multidrug-resistant cells and often mediates the development of resistance to anticancer drugs.

The efficacy of vitamin E TPGS as an enhancer of absorption and bioavailability has been demonstrated in cell culture, animal and major human clinical studies. More information.
